Staff

 Mark Bonham, Executive Director

Mark joined Open Hearts Ministry (OHM) as executive director on July 1, 2000. Previously he served for 25 years with the Navigators as campus minister, overseas missionary and country leader for Hungary and Romania (13 years), and in the Navigator community ministry on the Detroit Metro Mission's leadership team.

Mark has a B.S. in Business, an M.A. in Education, and is an ordained minister. His ministry experience has also given him a passion for experiencing life-giving community in safe groups.

As executive director, Mark is tasked with the operational and organizational development of the ministry. In addition, he is a frequent speaker at OHM training events.

Mark and his wife, Mary, have two married children and one grand daughter. Mary is actively involved as a director of "Soul Care" in their local church.

Sandy Burdick, Ministry Founder

For thirteen years, Sandy was the women's ministry coordinator in her local church. In 1987, after a Wounded Heart seminar led by Dr. Dan Allender, she gathered a team that started a small group ministry to the abused and this eventually developed into Open Hearts Ministry, Inc.

Sandy is a Bible study teacher, a discipler of women, a frequently requested conference speaker and is a primary teacher at our Survivors of Abuse Leadership Training Seminar (SALTS). In addition to her many contributions to our training material, Sandy has a new book that she has co-authored with Dorie Van Stone entitled "Secrets of the Heart".

Sandy has, through local small groups, helped hundreds of people deal with the wounds of abuse, many of whom are actively helping others around the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Sandy has a deep passion to see people come alive from the devastation of abuse.

Sandy is the wife of Bill, an orthopedic surgeon in Kalamazoo, MI. They have three married daughters and ten grandchildren.

Amy Anderson, Leader Training Director

In August 2006, Amy joined the OHM staff as Leader Training Director. Prior to assuming this new responsibility, Amy had been working as a volunteer leader for OHM since 1990. In recent years her responsibilities have grown into providing training for SALTS leaders and offering supervision of leaders during the SALTS seminar. This transition into a staff position has allowed Amy to leave her private counseling practice and to focus on continued training and development of our leaders.

Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and brings 16 years of counseling and group leading experience with her.

One of Amy's passions is to offer encouragement and training opportunities to our SALTS leaders.

Amy is the mother of four boys, and the wife of Curt.

Deanna Sturgeon, Office Adminstrator

Deanna Sturgeon joined the OHM team in June 2003. She is currently the Office Administrator. Deanna has been married to her husband, Craig, for 25 years and has 3 sons.
